Disney Cartoon Coloring Pages

Cartoon Coloring PagesNow Walt Disney wasn't the only animator in the world, but I think he is recognized as one of the most important pioneers of animation and cartoons in the world and he is certainly one of our heroes in life.

He was born Walter Elias Disney and was the forth child of Elias and Flora Disney. His father was actually a building contractor and his mother was a school teacher. Walt lived in Missouri as a boy and went to school there where he showed a passion for drawing and painting.

The family moved to Kansas City where his father compelled Walt to work delivering newspapers for him. It was in Kansas that he began to study cartooning and he went to Kansas City Art Institute and School of Design.

During the early 1900's they all moved back to Chicago where Walt continued his passion with art, photographs, drawing and studied cartooning. This was all disrupted by World War 1 when he was actually an ambulance driver.

After this period of his life he met Ub Iwerks while he was an inker in an art studio in Kansas.

In 1992, Walt and Ub started their own studio and they started to make short animated advertising films with a second hand camera they bought.

They distributed these movies in the local cinemas. This was when they also came up with the Laugh-O-gram animated sketches and the pilot for a film of fairy tales called Alice in Cartoonland.

After going bankrupt in 1923, he didn't give up. Walt moved to California to chase his cinematographic passion. Walt and Roy his brother joined up again with Ub and they came up with a character called Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. This eventually led them to coming up with the Mickey character in 1927. The third Mickey movie came out with voice and sound as was known as Steamboat Willie in 1928. It was an amazing success.

In 1928 they started the Silly Symphonies with the Skeleton dance.

The popularity of all of these animated cartoons led to new characters such as Minnie, Donald duck, Pluto and Goofy and also in 1933 The Three Little Pigs.

Color was introduced in 1932 in the film Flowers and Trees and then came The Grasshopper and the Ants and The Tortoise and The Hare based on Aesop's fables (www.federico.com.ph).

Roy, the businessman started franchising merchandising goods for the characters.

Next, in 1937 after years of work, came Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and the world of animated movies was finally launched in a major way.

Following shortly thereafter was Pinocchio (1940), Dumbo (1941) and Bambi in (1942) and then the amazing film Fantasia was also released in 1940. There are also cartoon coloring pages for all those character.

A strike by animators, forced many of the animators to leave and even World War II took it's toll on the animator, but survive he did with The Reluctant dragon, Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Song of the South and many more.

The cartoon was born well and truly now and the rest as they say is history.
