Canada Day is a monumental day for every Canadian spread all over the world. It was the 1st of July 1867 when the Constitution Act was passed and three colonies were united to form the country we call Canada today. Canada day hosts a huge celebration all over the nation. Schools and colleges all over the country announce holidays and organize a special function for everyone.
Neighborhoods light up and there are colorful decorations and fireworks all around. The day is celebrated by everyone as it is a national holiday. Children in school are entertained as they take part in various programs and contests. The most popular one of them however is the sit and draw or color competition. It is held in almost all the schools.
The children are given sheets to draw and color on. The only rule is to draw or color in a way, so it depicts patriotism towards one’s nation. Children love this and can’t get enough of it. There is a limited amount of time given to the children to complete their entries. The winners of these competitions sometimes get a scholarship, cash prizes, visits to national monuments, etc.
There are coloring sheets of different bordered pictures to color, like the much loved Maple Leaf, cartoons depicting the celebration, Moose, the Canadian Flag, etc. The best way to use them is to print a lot of them together and get them bind into books. Once the children get their hands on them, they will be busy bringing these pictures to life.
